Enjoyed the read, Brad! Completely agree with you on technology and human interaction...things aren't like they used to be.

Keep up the good writing

Great story. I can see how times have really changed. Nothing like a good conversation with a teammate, or a prank to bring everyone together.

Since when have we become so important that we need to be accessible 24/7. Cell phones have changed the way we live and I'm not sure it's for the better.

I recall travelling on a commercial flight to Washington in the 90's from Ottawa. The Ottawa Senators were on the same flight. It was a few years after your stint with the team Brad.

There were cards games going on all over the plane. Guys were up and down visiting with each other. The flight was delayed before leaving Ottawa and as Brad noted, the NHL players sat there waiting for a couple hours like the rest of us.

I sat in a middle seat and Lance Pitlick was in the aisle seat beside me. He was playing cards with the guys across the aisle. He was obviously a tobacco chewer and spit into a cup the whole flight. Not the most pleasant sight I have ever seen.

It was definitely different than what the modern NHL player experiences on their private charter flights whenever they need to hit the road.

I have watched some of the antics that the Blackhawks (primarily Sharp) have pulled on the road. I think it's a sense of unity and shows the other guys that they are in it together and need to make the best, even if the season isn't going their way.

Great blog and a great story. Players these days are bigger, faster and stronger than ever, and by social default, total Prima Donnas.
